Tyre company Firestone is at the centre of a pollution scandal in Liberia.
The firm has been accused of contaminating the water in the town where it runs a rubber plantation.
It has been blamed for causing ailments ranging from skin diseases to birth defects.

An investigation by the government in Liberia has concluded that the Firestone Rubber Plantation Company has polluted local water sources.
The three-month investigation found that a plant south-east of the capital Monrovia was responsible for high levels of orthophosphate in creeks.
The report called on Firestone to improve its waste treatment facility.

One of Liberia’s oldest companies was over the weekend found liable of polluting waters in Kparnyan Town, Margibi County.
