An investigation by the government in Liberia has concluded that the Firestone Rubber Plantation Company has polluted local water sources.
The three-month investigation found that a plant south-east of the capital Monrovia was responsible for high levels of orthophosphate in creeks.
The report called on Firestone to improve its waste treatment facility.

One of Liberia’s oldest companies was over the weekend found liable of polluting waters in Kparnyan Town, Margibi County.

Pursuant to the Trafficking Victims Protection Reauthorization Act of 2005, the US Department of Labor has released a list of 122 goods from 58 countries that are produced by forced labor or child labor. Included in the list is rubber from Liberia.
